Project Overview Shared at Saint-Omer: A Moment of Reflection and Progress

At the recent Cool Neighbourhoods partner meeting in Saint-Omer, France, Tako Popma opened the event with a clear and concise overview of the project’s progress to date.

This session served as a timely opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the project so far, including:

  • The successful implementation of pilot activities in nine neighbourhoods across France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands
  • The development of key deliverables such as the Liveability Index, the Empowerment Guidebook, and the Neighbourhood Heat Stress Action Plans (NHSAPs)
  • A growing commitment to replication, citizen engagement, and climate resilience at the local level

Tako’s presentation provided context for the two-day meeting in Saint-Omer, where partners shared experiences, tested training tools, and explored ways to scale the impact of the Cool Neighbourhoods initiative.

“We’re no longer just testing ideas—we’re preparing to share them across North-West Europe,” Tako explained.

Tako`s remarks reaffirmed the strategic importance of this phase in the project, as Cool Neighbourhoods moves toward capitalisation, visibility, and long-term sustainability.
